Genesis

A Church Organization Meeting was held on Monday June 9, 1997 at Shoney’s restaurant in Forest City, North Carolina. Attendees were: Danny McCain, Ernie Pinkerton, Brian Pinkerton, Robert McDaniels, Tim Pollard and Charlie Lawson.

We had a very productive meeting, GOOD SPIRIT AMONG THE MEN GATHERED. The Church was first named “Oakland Community Church” due to it being located in the area south of Spindale, North Carolina known as Oakland on 221 Truck Route. The first service was held on Sunday, July 6, 1997 with 12 in attendance for Sunday School and 14 for the Morning Worship. By the winter of 1999/2000 the average attendance for the Morning Worship had grown to 45. The average attendance in the Sunday morning Worship Service by 2007 had grown to 150. After looking at several parcels of land to purchase for a building site, in October of 1998 the Church congregation agreed to allow the Church Board to make an offer on a 7 acre parcel of land on Michael Drive just off Doggett Road to the south of Forest City, North Carolina. The first offer for $30,000 was refused since it had not been officially on the market as of the offer date of October 13, 1998. The church paid the full price of $35,000 debt free for the 7 acres. Ernie Pinkerton, Charles Lawson, Timothy Pollard and Danny McCain became the trustees of the property for Church. The purchase was made and the deed signed on November 10, 1998. Charlie Brown donated his excavation time and began clearing the land the week of Thanksgiving 1998. Due to the location of the property, the Church had to undergo a name change. Names were solicited from the congregation and from those names the top three were chosen and voted on by the church board. The name was changed to Pleasant View Community Church. On February 18, 2000 a contract was signed with Morton Buildings for the purchase and erecting of a 60’X120’ building that would be used for the new Worship Center. Purchase price was $113,691 for the frame structure. The estimated cost for completion of the building was $242,000 and funds were secured from the Community Bank and Trust of Forest City, North Carolina. The First Service was held in the new building in December 2000. The 6900 sq ft Family Life Center was completed and dedicated in December of 2005.

Our Mission

It is the Mission of the Pleasant View Community Church to be a church for all people.

Purpose

To spread the Gospel of Christ in its entirety, among all people of the community, and as God gives opportunity, to all who will give ear to the Holy Spirit, for the benefit of both Saint and Sinner.

Vision

It is our vision to establish a Church where believers and unbelievers alike can sense the love of God through His people. Where the sinner can find a Savior, where the believer can find a refuge, where the spiritually hungry can be fed and where the hopeless can find “The Hope”. To create an environment through prayer and Biblical training for making Disciples for Christ to carry on the Great Commission and to create an atmosphere for worship.

Ownership

Although the Church is the body of Christ and made up of many members, it also consists of lands and buildings in order to create a place/location of worship. The lands and buildings are held in trust by the officers of the church as noted on the Deed of Trust and registered in Rutherford County of North Carolina.
